Just Getting Started…

Are you thinking about homesteading or self sufficiency? See the grocery prices and sigh? Not sure where to start?

You can do it, you have it in you, you're already looking for answers and that is the first step! The hardest step. Now that you have started, you just have to go with it! That’s the big secret…homesteading aka self sufficiency…it’s all just a learning curve. There are no experts and you don’t have to go to pricey conferences to do it. None of this takes a genius IQ to do, just takes determination and will power.

So what do you want first? garden? birds? cows? all of it at once?? LOL. I mean if you want to jump in the deep end, go for it! But if you need some training wheels, let’s start with a garden. Grow some salad and some tomatos. These are the easiest and can be done in a pot! Next, see how much space you have and get chickens or quail. IF you live in an HOA, get quail quietly! Your neighbors will never know if you don’t tell them. Quail are the gateway critter tho…next comes bigger birds!

So grab you some pots and a bucket to sit on, and let’s make a pioneer outta ya! I grew up in the country and had chickens and cows and a horse named Molly. We rode 3 wheelers and swam in the pond. Then up I grew and received an BS in Animal Science from MTSU. Now we live on a Middle TN farm with chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail, goats, cows, dogs and cats. It’s an adventure that I love to share!
