Product Description
If your goal is producing large Coturnix quail, our Jumbo White line was developed with size as the priority. These birds have been selectively bred for heavy body weights, calm temperaments, fertility, and large eggs while maintaining excellent hatchability.
Unlike color-focused breeding programs, our emphasis is performance. Depending on the genetics inherited, chicks may hatch as English White, heterozygous Pearl, or homozygous Pearl, giving each hatch a little variety while maintaining the jumbo traits our breeding program is known for.
Because of their impressive size, these birds are best suited for meat production, dual-purpose flocks, or breeders looking to improve body size in their own lines.
Around the farm, we call these our Quailzillas for one simple reason—they're big. Selected for exceptional body size, these jumbo white Coturnix commonly reach 15–20 ounces for hens and 14–18 ounces for males under proper management. While they lay large eggs, this line was developed primarily for those wanting an impressive meat bird.
What to Expect
Jumbo Whites are the largest Coturnix we raise.
Under proper management:
Hens commonly mature between 15 and 20 ounces
Males commonly mature between 14 and 18 ounces
Hens produce large hatching eggs
Birds mature quickly and typically begin laying around 7 weeks
Because these birds are substantially larger than standard Coturnix, they also consume more feed. If your primary goal is maximum egg production with minimal feed costs or simply keeping a few backyard pets, another variety may be a better fit. For breeders and homesteaders focused on producing large birds for the table, the additional feed consumption is generally offset by their increased body size.

The Classic Coturnix Every Quail Keeper Should Own
If you're looking for a productive, dependable Coturnix quail, the Jumbo Pharaoh is where most experienced breeders begin.
Often called Jumbo Brown, Wild Type, or Sex-Linked Brown (SLB), these birds represent the traditional Coturnix color pattern while offering the larger body size and productivity developed through years of selective breeding. Whether your goal is fresh eggs, meat production, or building your own breeding program, Jumbo Pharaoh quail remain one of the most versatile varieties available.
Why Bryant's Roost Pharaoh Quail?
Our breeding program focuses on much more than color.
Each generation is selected for:
Large adult body size
Excellent fertility
Strong hatchability
Calm temperament
Easy feather sexing
Large egg production
Correct feather markings
Rather than collecting from a single breeding cage, your order is gathered from multiple breeder groups whenever possible. This helps maintain greater genetic diversity while preserving the traits our flock has been selected for over many years.
Easy Feather Sexing
One of the biggest advantages of Pharaoh Coturnix is that males and females can usually be identified by feather color beginning around 17–18 days of age.
Females develop a speckled breast.
Males develop a rust-colored breast with a white chin strap.
No vent sexing required.
Fast Growing and Productive
Under proper nutrition and management, Jumbo Pharaoh Coturnix typically:
Mature quickly
Begin laying around 6–8 weeks of age
Produce large, speckled eggs
Reach full body condition by approximately 8–10 weeks
Although hens often begin laying around 7 weeks, we recommend keeping young birds on a quality starter or grower feed until approximately 10 weeks of age before transitioning to a layer ration. Supporting skeletal growth before heavy egg production helps maximize long-term health and productivity.
Professionally Packed for Shipping
Every order is packed using professional EggFoam™ shipping materials designed specifically for hatching eggs.
While no breeder can guarantee hatch rates after eggs leave the farm, careful packing greatly reduces shipping damage compared to traditional packaging methods.
Freshness, packaging, incubation practices, shipping conditions, and incubator accuracy all influence hatch success.

Egyptian Coturnix Hatching Eggs
Our Egyptian Coturnix line didn't begin with birds purchased from multiple breeders. It began with a recessive gene discovered within our original Pharaoh breeding program.
Rather than allowing the mutation to appear randomly, we made the decision to establish a dedicated Egyptian breeding line while simultaneously breeding the Egyptian gene out of our Pharaoh line. More than six years later, those two lines continue to be maintained separately through careful record keeping and selective breeding.
That history matters.
When you purchase hatching eggs from Bryant's Roost, you're receiving eggs from a breeding program that has been intentionally developed over multiple generations. Our goal has never been to simply produce Egyptian-colored birds. Every generation is selected for the traits that make a reliable breeding line, including fertility, hatchability, vigor, temperament, and consistent production.
Because every bird carries hidden genetics, developing a predictable breeding line requires years of selection. We believe consistency is one of the most valuable qualities a breeder can offer, and it is something that cannot be created overnight.
Every order is collected fresh, carefully inspected, and packaged in EggFoam shipping inserts to provide the best possible protection during transit. While shipping hatching eggs always involves variables beyond our control, proper packaging gives your eggs the best opportunity to arrive safely.
Whether you're starting your first Egyptian breeding project or adding quality genetics to an existing program, we appreciate the opportunity to be part of your journey.

Before You Order
Hatching eggs are a perishable product. Hatch rates are influenced by many factors, including shipping conditions, incubation practices, equipment, and breeder experience. Because these variables are outside our control once eggs leave the farm, hatchability cannot be guaranteed.
We strongly recommend allowing shipped eggs to rest in cold weather and to set immediately in hot weather before incubation and following proper incubation procedures to maximize hatch success.

A Striking Blend of Black, White, and Gray
Falb Fee Coturnix quail are one of the more eye-catching color varieties, displaying a beautiful mix of black, white, and gray feathers that give each bird a unique appearance. No two birds are exactly alike, making every hatch exciting.
Whether you're looking to add diversity to your covey, expand a color breeding project, or simply enjoy hatching unusual Coturnix quail, Falb Fee are an excellent choice.
Why Choose Falb Fee?
Distinctive black, white, and gray feather pattern
Excellent addition to color-focused breeding programs
Fast-growing Coturnix that typically begin laying around 6–8 weeks of age
Great for both new and experienced quail keepers
Feather Sexable
Very Jumbo sized
At Bryant's Roost, we select our breeding stock for health, vigor, fertility, and overall quality. Our goal is to produce birds that are not only beautiful but also productive and dependable breeders.
Each order includes fresh Falb Fee Coturnix hatching eggs collected from our breeding pens. Eggs are collected frequently, stored under proper conditions, and packaged using professional EggFoam™ shipping materials to help protect them during transit.
As with all shipped hatching eggs, hatchability depends on many factors outside our control, including shipping conditions, incubator accuracy, and incubation practices. While we cannot guarantee hatch rates, we take every step possible to ensure your eggs leave our farm fresh, carefully selected, and professionally packed.

You'll receive 36 Egyptian Coturnix hatching eggs and 36 Pharaoh Coturnix hatching eggs, both from breed-true breeding pens. Once hatched, the two varieties are easy to distinguish. Egyptian chicks hatch with a lighter, blond appearance, while Pharaoh chicks are darker with the familiar striped pattern.
As your birds mature, establish three breeding groups:

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Bryant’s Roost actually has their own line of EggFoam and we ship in them. I designed them and they will give you the best chance at a great hatch!
-
I do not offer a hatch rate guarantee. Many factors affect hatch rate including handling during shipping and customer experience with incubating. We do offer many tutorials to help you on your journey.
-
Shipping time varies with weather and seasons. IF it is too hot, the eggs will literally overheat and will not be viable upon receipt. I do my best to insure a great experience. During our busy season, times can be delayed and you can find current ship times here .
You can always check your order status from the home page with your order number.
-
If the variety is feather sexable, after 3 weeks of age, the markings will begin changing. Males will have a more solid chest and females will keep their speckles.
-
NO. That is a myth
-
At checkout, you may leave notes. I cannot guarantee a certain date but the further ahead of time you order, the easier it is for me to hit that mark. Otherwise just put the info you think I need such as “ After April 1” or “I will be on vacation April 1-5”.
-
I do my best to offer supplies that I use and can honestly recommend. I do not sell items that I do not use or have used successfully.
-
Quail Chicks need a high protein, moderately high fat starter feed. I suggest Kalmbach turkey starter, non medicated. Show Pro Feeds will also ship custom feed or if you are close to Birmingham, you can pick it up. I do not recommend Purina, try to locate a local feed store and talk to them. If you are in doubt, PoultryNerdsPodcast.com has a feed tag page with many tags already on it or we can analyze for you.
