Order Hatching Eggs
It just occurred to me that if you have never ordered hatching eggs before, you may not know how or how it works or what to expect! I just kinda take it for granted but I am trying to see this stuff from a newly eye so I can help better.
First you want to vet the seller to make sure not a scam. I recommend ordering from a site with a credit card so you can at least call Visa if you need to dispute.
Second you need to have an incubator. If you don’t, order chicks instead, and I will do a blog on that soon!
Once you place the order, feel free to ask questions, most sellers will help, if they don’t help at the beginning, remember they may not help later. Hatching eggs are a gamble because you don’t know how they will be handled by USPS. Ask how they will be packaged, ask for tracking and insurance. I prefer foam eggshippers, but a egg carton is an absolute no no.
When you get the eggs, let them rest, pointy side down for 12-24 hours, remember this is a patience hobby, and it starts now! Place them in the incubator and leave them alone for the set amount of days. Quail 14. Chickens 18. Turkeys and ducks 25. Then the last few days you take the turner out and let them hatch! Once they are all dry and fluffy, take them out and life has begun! Enjoy your new babies.
