Education

Just my

Morning rambling thoughts.

Recently, a breeder challenged other breeders to share some wisdom. I like to learn from wiser people than me so on a FB post, I offered insight to an issue someone was having. It wasn’t anything grand and crazy, it was over feed, I explained the benefits of adding whole oats to Poultry feed.

The result of such a simple comment was crazy! Another commenter, explained how insane I was. I posted a link to UK poultry science research letter which explained oats’ benefits. She reacted with the Chicken Chick blog. 🤦‍♀️ Fast forward 24 hours and she was stalking me. Regardless of what and where I posted she was there telling everyone I was a nut. This lady with 4 chickens and a cashier at Rural King. I had to block her.

The point here is to be mindful of who is giving you advice. I’m no expert but I spend a lot of time studying my birds. Studying nutrition. I have a BS in Animal Science. Genetics. SOP. Discussing with other breeders. Do your own homework- on any subject- so you have just enough info to know if someone is snowing you. That is your responsibility as a human.

Make it a point to learn one new thing everyday. It can be from a simple Siri search. Info on a friend. Insight into a Bible verse. Sitting and watching your birds to learn how they interact. Listening to your spouse. Be present in your life.
