I grew up in a small town in middle Tennessee. We had cows, dogs, chickens and a horse named Molly. I was a typical farm kid, playing in the woods, riding bareback and racing 3 wheelers.

I started at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville to be an engineer but after 3 semesters, I decided that wasn’t for me. I transferred to MTSU in Murfreesboro and received a Bachelors of Science in Animal Science. I intended to go to Vet school but life had other plans and I took a break from animals to raise the kids.

Fast Forward to kids leaving home and all the sudden I have time to myself! Let’s get some chickens I say. Then some ducks came, then turkeys and guineas. My husband, David, who didn’t know about birds, quickly learned what to build me to make the hobby more fun and sustainable.

Soon, the animals outgrew the acre we had for them, so we settled on land in Bell Buckle, TN. In the process we took in goats and their dogs and then some cows, then ducks and then the quail came.

I did not know about quail and I obtained them “on accident”. Some research, a mentor and some time, quail became an easy addition to the farm. I never intended to become a quail farmer but it happened! Now I am one of the largest breeders who sell to the public.

Exhibition chickens, club memberships and breeder supplies. Suddenly I needed more supplies than anyone could come up with so I created my own. EggFoam was designed and I found a manufacturer to create it. It is proudly made in the USA. Live shipping boxes, feeders and waterers and brooder plates. Bryant’s Roost was created to support breeders and people who want sustainability.

Today, Bryant’s Roost is a destination for poultry information, hatching eggs and more.

Social media is full of misinformation and noise. Poultry Nerds was created to give solid information in a world of misinformation. Guests share their expertise. Our format is an easy conversation with rabbit holes and giggles.

EggFoam is the store for the breeder supplies. We are the only foam created, used and sold by a breeder.

A long the journey to this point I have learned how to use social media, email lists and create websites. We have successfully hosted a Virtual Summit called Quail Mania and have more planned for 2026.
