We Ship Strong, Feathered Chicks—Not Day-Old Babies

Most hatcheries ship quail chicks just hours after they hatch. At Bryant's Roost, we take a different approach.

Our Coturnix quail chicks are typically shipped at about 10 days of age. By then, they're stronger, feathering well, eating and drinking confidently, and better prepared for the journey to their new home.

That extra time with us gives your chicks a healthier start and gives you a more robust bird to raise.

Why We Ship Around 10 Days Old

  • Stronger and more developed than day-old chicks

  • Feathering well and better able to regulate body temperature

  • Eating and drinking independently

  • Reduced stress during shipping

  • Less fragile than newly hatched chicks

  • Still young enough to bond easily with their new environment

We believe giving chicks a little more time before shipping results in a better experience for both the birds and their new owners.

    Every chick is hatched from carefully selected breeding stock with an emphasis on health, productivity, and size.

Shipping Information

Quail chicks are shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express in approved live bird shipping boxes. Each shipment includes hydration gel and feed to support the chicks during transit.

Bryant's Roost is NPIP certified, allowing us to legally ship live poultry where permitted.

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based on your location.

Make sure to put your phone number at checkout, USPS will hold the birds and call you for pick up.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Quail chicks are shipped via USPS Priority Mail Express in approved live bird shipping boxes. We include GroGel® and feed to help keep them hydrated and nourished during transit.

  • Unfortunately, no. While we can schedule when your chicks are shipped, USPS does not guarantee a specific delivery day or time. If you have a vacation or scheduling conflict, please let us know before placing your order, and we'll do our best to choose a shipping date that works for you.

  • Many post offices will call you when your chicks arrive for pickup, but procedures vary by location. We recommend monitoring your tracking information closely and contacting your local post office if you have questions about how they handle live bird shipments.

  • Open the box immediately and place the chicks into a warm, prepared brooder with fresh water and quality starter feed. Although they are around 10 days old, they still require supplemental heat until they are fully feathered.

  • Depends. Chicks shipped at approximately 10 days of age are too young to accurately sex except for Egyptian Hens, those are guaranteed females.

  • We take every reasonable precaution to ensure your chicks arrive safely by using approved shipping boxes, providing hydration and feed, and carefully timing shipments. If you experience a problem with your shipment, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist you.
